A Fresh Look

I've finally taken the time to update the Spanish Sky Photography blog.  I am not much of a writer, so blogging about my photography gets pushed aside more often than not.  It's a weakness I hope to overcome someday, but I definitely needed to give it a little love!

It was time consuming to create all the actions in PS4 to be ready to batch process everything, but will help workflow tremendously now that it's all a click away from being ready to post.  I've re-sized images and introduced a fresh new watermark that looks better - simple, clean, basic.  See it here: Spanish Sky Blog

You may also notice some gradual changes to the Spaghetti Brunette blog too.  I like to change things up every year and with us moving overseas at the end of the year, I want to have a jump start on it while it's not quite "busy season" with photography sessions or the mix of packing up and shipping out.  And at the end of the year I print the Spaghetti Brunette blog into a book using Blurb (which I love!).  The current image size I use on the blog is not quite working out for printing in the book and I spend WAY too long reloading all the images into the booksmart program.

Redington Pass

Another Brunette Jeep adventure... this time it was up through Redington Pass.  Everyone had a great time... especially driving through the giant mud puddles recent monsoons have left behind.
Not sure how she spotted it, but Buggy excitedly discovered a fat toad through the cattle grate as we drove over it.  We all had to get out and see what she was jumping around about.  It startled me when I bent down to snap a shot of it and it lunged toward me!

Old Friends, New Friends

Our last evening on vacation we met up with some friends we grew up with and reintroduced our kids to one another.  They all met when they were just toddlers, but barely remember each other.  We loaded up and went to Chubby's Diner and miniature golfing at Trafalga.  I tried to gather the kids together for a photo while the dads were making wagers on their golf game... but it was a bit of a handful.

Brunette Family Party

Since Military Man was only going to be "in town" for a couple of days, we threw together a quick Brunette family gathering at the park before we left for Arizona.  We also tried to get a family picture, which proved a little difficult... understandably with THAT many families involved - each going in their own direction, and our  available light fading away - waiting to take the picture until ALL PARTIES had arrived!  Whew! I think we did OK considering the situation.  Devon was the only one that couldn't make it, and our kids were a little disappointed.  We didn't get to see him or his adorable little kids, nor Beau's boys - they were all with their mothers out of town for the week.  Their most favorite, lovable cousin Bryce came with his fiance and made the kids' night.  They've missed him SO MUCH.
Hard to believe that Jacob is Joey's younger by 6 months.  Cousin BFF's.
My little diva.  Honestly!!!
Our girls LOVED all the time they got to spend with cousin Kacie this summer.  She's such a great kid.
The kids weren't the only ones making it difficult for a nice picture.
We ate, ran around, ate some more, laughed a lot, and played kickball... didn't even stop for the rain.  It was a bit slippery, but SO MUCH FUN!

Independence Day Fireworks

We watched Independence Day fireworks across the valley from north Lehi mountainside. I didn't have a tripod, and wasn't sure which settings to use. I've seen images of fireworks taken several different ways using a variety of settings, and I quite honestly like them all.  I don't think there's really a "right" way to do it, it's a matter of which style you like... and what is available to you at the time - including your positioning and WHERE you're actually able to take photographs from.  This is what I could do "at the time."

The Fourth of July

For the 4th of July we enjoyed scones at Porter's Place with the Brunette family then later we hung out with GG and Uncle Seth, playing cards, roasting hot dogs and making s'mores!
Even the dogs enjoyed playing around in the backyard.
