Late Night Desert Drive

Impromptu drive through the Arizona desert last night... [no tripod] but still, I tried.

Favorites From Past Fall Sessions

Thought I'd share some of my favorites from past fall senior sessions... I LOVE this time of year.  And I LOVE the fact that I've filled up all my previously allotted session dates and have had to create a few more openings.  Horray for being busy!  Happy weekend friends.

Teacher Conference Day

I've been so busy lately that I didn't remember there was no school Monday due to some sort of teacher conferences.  It WAS nice having them home - not to do chores or homework, but just to play with friends.

Practice, Practice

I've had a little trouble with my "flow" during photography sessions when it comes to using my 50mm 1.4 prime.  I usually reserve it for times when I have absolute control over my subject and surroundings. That is not always the way things go down, and I weakly fall back into my comfort zone with my 28mm 3.5 zoom.  I absolutely love the results the 1.4 gives me, but get frustrated with how comfortable I've become using a zoom lens.  Fed up, I asked this exceptionally beautiful girl for the help of a "practice" session - so I could work through my awkwardness and figure out how to readjust myself in a better way while using this particular lens with no zoom capabilities.  I still feel like I have some work to do getting over that "stop and go" feeling but I am very happy she was willing to let me work it out on her!  I actually used this lens for the entire session while doing a family shoot this morning and felt much more comfortable - and the results ...fabulous!

My Assistant

I invited Buggy to join me on a recent photo shoot in the Coronado National Forest.  She was a fantastic helper and even got in on some of the action too.  I could get used to having a personal assistant - one that I can pay in sweet treats and video game passes!

The Grand Canyon

Here's a few images from our Grand Canyon adventure over Labor Day weekend.  So glad we decided to make the trip up there - it's awesome being able to 'check' locations off our Arizona list.

They've wanted to go to the Grand Canyon ever since we lived in New Mexico... finally, we made it!

Williams & Grand Canyon Railway

We enjoyed the tourist town and historic Route 66 town of Williams, Arizona as we prepared for our trip to the Grand Canyon.

We took the train to the south rim of the Grand Canyon.  It was a catered two hour luxury trip, and the kids enjoyed every minute of the entertainment aboard.
