Crawling Critters, Aggressive Turkeys and Spider Bites

I know it's been awhile since I sat down to share anything from our little piece of heaven here in Arizona on the blog.  The days have been - for lack of a better description - bleeding together.  A month ago I didn't think things could get any crazier around here, yet somehow they have and we are still happily in the game - doing well and making gains... and OH MY! it's nearly October already.  Boy these last few months have really flown by for us.

Today I have some shots of critters from Madera Canyon... I have been so busy that I have not taken much time to sit at the computer and go through the hundreds of pictures I've captured in the weeks passed.  These images were easy to whip out, so here ya go!  We've had many critter encounters lately, the above shots are what Copper and I came across (hundreds of them actually) on one of our three big hikes this month.  He was most amused with a pair of large deer that weren't more than twenty yards ahead of us on a trail but I wasn't able to take any pictures before my movements to the camera bag sent them jumping off into the trees.
A dozen of these wild turkeys were in the road as I was driving home early one evening from a photo shoot.  My clients and I were the only ones in the canyon there.  Since they were in the road, I stopped and got out of my car to snap some pictures.  I got a little worried when they started coming straight towards me... I figured they'd be frightened and take off when I got out but guess I was wrong.  I hurried back to my car and they left the road soon after where I was able to take these pictures from the safety of my car, lol.

And one more excitable critter encounter for the month: I sustained five spider bites last week and spent this weekend at the doctor's office with massive inflamed and blistering sores from the incident.  Two weeks of antibiotics, steroids, and prescription strength antihistamines for me... NOT FUN!

Hope ya'll have a great week!  I'll be back soon with more pictures... just as soon as I can slow down life for a few minutes :)

'Niners: Game 2

I know it's taking me forever to post these... thank you for the reminders, haha.  Life at the Brunette home has been somewhat chaotic and disorderly for... well, for ever I guess... we are busy as ever and I barely have time to keep my days straight.  These are from Game 2 last week.  It rained.  A lot.  Thankfully I had my trusty assistant there to hold an umbrella over my camera so I could still take pictures with the lens I rented for the weekend.  Now that I can compare results, I think my 200 will do just as well and I won't have to shell out a whole lot of money for another lens to take up space in my bag.  Sorry for the horrible color variation in these images, it went from dark (blue/green) and pouring to sunlight intermittently (yellow) and I was too busy to adjust white balance, and seriously - who has time to touch all that up?!  Not this momma.  I had almost 700 consecutive shots and that's what took me so long getting these posted.  It was hard to choose favorites, so for now, here's a variety.  I love the shots where you can see the boys faces - priceless expressions.  Final score 47-0 ...again.  Go 'Niners!!!  Remember, keep an eye out for Monkey Boy, he's #33, flyback.  I'll have some cheer leading pictures of Buggy to share this coming week.  Have a great weekend!!! xoxo - Jess

Buggy's Neon Party

For Buggy's 12th birthday we had a neon glow-in-the-dark party.  I didn't get many pictures of the glow-in-the-dark part because everyone was having too much fun and I just couldn't get them rounded up under the black light.  They painted tee shirts with glow paint and accessorized with glowing rings, bracelets, necklaces and hats.  Monkey Boy even dressed up his football by taping glow sticks to it and they all went out in the cul-de-sac to play catch in the dark.
Happy Hump Day folks!

'Niners : Game 1

Keep an eye out for #33... he's not in every picture because many times he'd switch his running play at the last minute and he'd be on the opposite side of the field from where I was taking pictures.  I've rented a 300mm for our next game so I can get better shots (hopefully) - where the "fans" stand is not near enough for me to capture the action as I'd like to.
I'll be back with more pictures of our last couple of weeks... including Buggy's 12th birthday, making cheer team, and Freckle Face's art projects.

XOXO - Jess
