Sentenced To Reading

Why are reading assignments like a horrible punishment for this kid?  Is it a 'boy' thing?  Is it an 'age' thing?  Even when we have a really good book - a story he enjoys - getting him to read it is a struggle.  Together he and I finished reading the Percy Jackson series, and now we've started the Eragon books.  When there's a night that I can't read to him he barely gets through a page by himself because he acts like such a little stinker when he must read to himself.

And you know what makes him even more mad - Mom taking pictures of him being mad.

Daisy's Almost Two!

Monkey Boy and I took Daisy to the vet a couple of weeks ago for her (nearly) two year old check up.  Our family had a running bet going on what her weight would be, because she's a pretty big girl.  I guessed 103 pounds.  According to the scale at the vet's office she weighed a healthy 96 pounds.  I am certain that the bath she had that morning washed away those missing seven pounds.

Just Dance Night

The family had a little Wii Just Dance action going on the other night.  I got a kick out of Monkey Boy's lack of coordination --such a boy!

And when he finally noticed me taking pictures --this is what I find in the background.

Winter Recital

Last night's SMS Orchestra Winter Recital was amazing. The kids were impressive, however, my video recording skills are not.  The sound quality is not great and Blogger would only allow the first 20 seconds of video, but here's two pieces the advanced orchestra played.  I did not get video recording of the final - totally amazing Handel's Messiah - because I ran out of storage on the camera card.

Mexican Christmas Party

The family enjoyed the festivities at our friends' fiesta last weekend.  The food was incredible and the kids of course, loved beating the pinatas.  And the dog Rocky enjoyed all the extra attention, as you can see. I only snapped a few photos, wish I'd taken more... but I was consumed with the awesome traditional Mexican cuisine.
