Buggy's Thirteenth
Bug celebrated her 13th birthday with a party last weekend. She planned the entire celebration from the Mickey Mouse earred invitations to the games and crafts which included Disney Scene-It and decorating paperdoll princesses with a table full of items from the craft store. Her dad ordered the cake - which was delightful (it had real strawberries in the center- yum!).

From The Fair
This was our first county fair experience and I have to say that it was awesome... (and pretty expensive - making notes for next year). We set Freckle Face and her friends loose with a handful of tickets for rides and a pocket full of cash for food - her "birthday party." Then Military Man and I took the other two hoodlums to rides and games and met up with a few friends of our own along the way.
Our Fair Highlights:
* Pre-sale 10 rides for $10 tickets - LIFESAVER as ticket for rides were $5 each the day of the fair.
* FUNNEL CAKES!!!
* Tequila fried pickles
* Tilt-a-Whirl
* ICEEs
* Reggae and dancing
* Ferris Wheels
* The Gravitron (or Alien Abduction as it's now called)
* Giant fried corndogs wrapped in bacon
* Monkey Boy won a miniature stuffed hamburger - the only person to win any of the stupid games we played
* Cotton candy and taffy
* Food poisoning from the funnel cakes. Every. Stinkin. Last. Person that ate some. Bleh!!

Buggy's Neon Party
For Buggy's 12th birthday we had a neon glow-in-the-dark party. I didn't get many pictures of the glow-in-the-dark part because everyone was having too much fun and I just couldn't get them rounded up under the black light. They painted tee shirts with glow paint and accessorized with glowing rings, bracelets, necklaces and hats. Monkey Boy even dressed up his football by taping glow sticks to it and they all went out in the cul-de-sac to play catch in the dark.
Happy Hump Day folks!

Building His Own Cake
For the Cub Scout Blue & Gold Banquet this year the boys had to
make and decorate a cake. I didn't think Monkey Boy would be too
enthused with this particular activity, but he surprised me with a
wonderful idea and a well thought out plan for his special cake. I also
thought I'd be abandoned to work on the project myself ten minutes in
(as is usually the case) but the only thing I had to do was supervise
the oven. He wasn't too happy about me taking pictures of him (as you
can see), but he did all the work and I couldn't be more proud of his
creativity and determination. He even got first place!

Last Week's Goings On
I had plenty of extra hands to help me with some projects I wanted to take care of while Military Man was in Honduras. We prepared some indoor plants for our natural air purification project, hung his hammock with the help of a neighbor, painted Joey's birdhouse and filled with bird seed, weeded the yard, trimmed the bushes, and priced out ceiling fans for my office.
And when he returned, we celebrated his 35th birthday with lunch at Joe's Crab Shack and a delectable cheese cake and two pounds of fresh strawberries.
