Good morning!  I took this photo of a field of thistle weeds at the base of Madera Canyon while shooting with another photographer and very sweet new friend earlier this week.  I have to say, I didn't get much accomplished photography-wise because I spent the WHOLE time talking - poor girl didn't have a chance.  That sort of happens when I'm nervous and or excited.

It Sure Has "Been A Week"

Seriously is this week over yet?  So far the milestones of the last seven days have been me repairing a dishwasher and a washing machine, reprogramming the irrigation, replanting a thorny palm tree seven times because Miss Daisy didn't like it blocking her view to the busy street below... every bl**ping morning!!! And not so surprisingly I did not finish all the laundry.  I also did not fix the ice machine, even though I've made every possible attempt to get it working again... I mean, it's not a complex thing - but for some stinking reason it just doesn't want to work.  Ugh!  I also did a "Google" crash-course on the difference between formatting on a MAC and a PC.  And then the rest of the time I chauffeured my three kids and their buddies around the suburbs in a minivan like a good soccer mom does.

Now for the fun stuff - HIGHLIGHTS - from this past week... Buggy was one of only 17 students to participate in the Castle Fair this year.  She was not happy with her project outcome, but we won't get into that... she worked hard and that's all that matters.  She also had her final advanced orchestra performance of the school year - they worked on Bach's Fugue in G Minor for the entire school year - and it was outstanding. Monkey Boy got first place in his class for his carbon dioxide Science Fair project.  He did a great job and we are pleased with his outstanding efforts.  And earlier in the week Freckle Face was called to be the Beehive President in the Young Women's organization.  She too, has been working hard and we are so proud of her example.

My Mother's Day Shower of Gifts!

 

Even though so many of my favorite people in the world are all so very far away from me, I sure did feel their love this Mother's Day.  I feel so blessed!  Gourmet chocolates from my Military Man, Shari's Berries chocolate dipped cookies and strawberries from my mother-in-law, a gorgeous arrangement of sweet-smelling flowers from my dearest friend Eva.

My day was filled with all kinds of lovely people I adore and admire at Church, chatting with my mother and grandmother on the phone.  The kids let me take a quick shot of each of us together between baking and dinner. 

Then we all enjoyed a facetime video chat with Dad.  

There was a failed attempt at a fresh pineapple upside down cake but it didn't damper the fun, it was still delicious - it just wasn't too pretty.  Asian Sky Chinese/Tai food, Harry Potter movies and playing with Legos with my kiddos... then stuffed myself with more Lo Mien and Orange Chicken and another helping of crumbly cake! 

It was a truly wonderful day.  Thank you all so very, very much!

Giddy For Gettin Stuff in the Mail

Buggy received an autographed poster from the Denver Bronco cheerleaders and a note congratulating her on having the courage to try something new, working really hard at practices and sticking it out through the school year as a Jaguars B-team cheerleader. Try-outs for next school year are in just a few short days... wish her luck!

He did not know why I was asking him to hold the package for a picture.  I love the look on his face after he saw who it was from.  Monkey Boy was loaded up with stuff from the Green Bay Packers... he couldn't wait to tell his dad all about it.  He starts tackle football in two months... and in his words, "it's never too early to think about football season."   Ahhh, love this kid!

Excited To Be Working On These!

I can't tell you how incredibly hectic and busy and chaotic things have been lately, but there is a slow down in sight - yay!  This is just one of the many projects I've been working on lately.  I'll be back to sharing family happenings just as soon as I can catch my breath!
